In 1962, Iola and LeVon Kenny purchased what had been the old county home and began operating it as Pigeon Valley rest home, licensed for 42 beds. Very few regs, provided innovative and quality care long before these were industry "buzz"
words. In 1984, Silver Bluff was built, originally as a rest home and run by Jean Longley (Levon deceased, Iola retired). Converted to a nursing home in 1989, with gradual increase in nursing beds and decrease in rest home beds until reached today's mix. First duplex built in 1993. Child day care started in 1994. Eden Alternative added in 1998. Arrowhead Cove added in 1999. |
